Indoor and outdoor automatic voltage regulators

Image of VRp Series precision automatic voltage regulator in black enclosure, delivering precision regulated voltage +/- 3%.Our voltage regulators come in three topologies: one of the oldest, the SLc Series, uses tap-switching technology and is useful for most basic applications needing voltage regulation, another is ferroresonant constant voltage transformer regulation, found in the FLc Series (where the need for bulletproof voltage regulation and isolation line conditioning is present), and the latest, our new 'voltage regulation with precision' VRp or VRx Series electronic PWM 'no-break' voltage regulation technology which utilizes state-of-the-art UPS technology, without the batteries.

This new voltage regulator VRp or VRx Series is the most precise and light-weight voltage regulation technology possible today. Voltage regulation is almost mandatory for systems going to developing countries with unstable ac mains. Picture shows an indoor VRp-3000/5000, 3/5 kW model.

Indoor and outdoor isolation transformer line conditioners

Recommended for severe environments where absolute reliability is a must. The ILc units can replace a dedicated line while improving system performance. Applications include digital copiers, medical equipment, point-of-sale terminals, telephone systems, industrial control equipment and other types of equipment with high availability and reliability requirements. The ILc Series offers full isolation with a neutral-to-ground bond, excellent surge protection, the best noise filtering, tolerance of frequency variations and unpredictable loads, high efficiency, quiet operation and excellent reliability. Some models (ILc-VRp units) also include built-in pulse-width-modulated (PWM) VRp topology automatic voltage regulation.

Sizes range from 600VA to 270 kVA, in single, dual and three phase configurations.

Indoor and outdoor uninterruptible power systems

Some are available with isolation transformer output for maximum line conditioning as well as battery back-up. Another UPS is available with a wide temperature battery, and a built-in connector for adding extra battery cabinets, for extreme environmental conditions. There are also a wide variety of outdoor UPS in IP44/NEMA 3R enclosures for mounting on poles or walls in extreme wide temperature exterior environments. Some are standard ac configurations, others have ac input and dc output, and some have ac input with both ac and dc output.

UPS are for where uptime is critical to an operation's mission fulfillment. Typical UPS back-up times are from 8 to 20 minutes, to protect your files and transactions while logged onto the Internet; or UPS with networking capability for automatic shutdown and 8 to 20 minutes of backup to protect networks from downtime, and to make sure the telephones still work while the lights are out.

These are suitable to be placed in areas with high mission-criticality, where maintenance is difficult to deploy easily or cost-effectively, and in areas with high lightning activity.

Dc to ac inverters

They are designed and recommended for telecommunication, utility, cable, and ISP applications which require reliable, conditioned power. These are ideal for those applications that already have large battery plants.

Sizes are presently in the range of 400 to 1400 watts.

Automatic transfer switches for enabling redundant power

Picture of ATs Series automatic transfer switch usable for enabling redundant power sources.These are for enabling redundant use of inexpensive sine-wave UPS, or other sine wave ac power sources, to achieve the highest levels of uptime. If one UPS fails for whatever reason, the automatic transfer switch (ATS) simply switches over to the redundant power source fast enough that the load stays up.

ATS are recommended when no downtime from power outages can be tolerated. Internet service providers, critical servers and telecom equipment, and export markets with bad power would find this technology valuable. ATS permits daisy chaining with any UPS, providing unlimited redundancy using any combination of independent (separate) ac circuits, UPS systems, generator-backed ac circuits, etc.

Automatic transfer switches are available in 115 vac and 230 vac, in 30 and 40 amperes configurations.
